A GUIDING GROOVE TO FLYROD GRIP FOR INDEX FINGER SUPPORT (FiSu)

There are different types of hands, grips and casting styles in fly casting. Some subjects like to have his index finger against the grip to help the cast. If you have a simple GROOVE filed to the upper side of the grip you have much better control of the rod and have more power (and length) to the cast.
If you dont want to make permanent groove to the grip you may try it by taping two small pins (like matches) to the cork grip and try the modification. If you like it you may then file the groove!

FILE THE GROOVE

The groove should be about 5-8 cm (2-3 inches) long and it is easily done by a round file with diameter of 6-10 milllimeters (0.02-0.04 inches). The groove is filed excactly opposite to the line guides.

The groove gives you additional control of the timing of the cast and of the rod. It may even give you extra meters /yards when casting.
